Prepare interior and exterior surfaces, fixtures, and structures by sanding, filling holes, cracks, and joints with caulking or approved materials. Ability to perform tape and bedding procedures and texturing of sheetrock/dry wall.
Assess scope of work including total man-hours needed for each project. Determine which materials are needed and ensure all materials are on hand for projects. Deliver materials and tools to assigned job site in a timely manner for project execution.
Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, and hours worked, for work order completion on assigned work, projects and other required records.
Employee must meet a daily average of at least 125 square feet per hour when applying basic finishes to wall surfaces. Employee must meet an average of at least 50 linear feet per hour when applying finishes to baseboards and trim.
Ability to safely construct and use scaffolding, extension ladders, and hydraulic lift buckets for exterior painting requests of multi-level facilities.
Maintain inventory of assigned tools, equipment, and vehicle as assigned daily, informing supervisor of any known problems immediately and provide documentation during inspection and/or inventory of tools, equipment, or vehicle as required. Must keep truck and supply inventory supplies clean and organized daily.
Follow the District's safety guidelines, using good safety practices for operating hand and power tools, equipment, and vehicles as needed for job completion. Must wear the appropriate PPE as required.
Communicate effectively and professionally with all District personnel and ensure the highest quality of customer service is given.
Employee may be required to work overtime or a schedule that meets District and department needs.
Ability to work the evening shift or any other schedule to accommodate the District's needs.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Valid Texas Driver's License and a record that meet the District's Standard.
Minimum of 2+ years of experience in painting application and preparation required.
Demonstrated ability to perform responsibilities under general supervision.
Demonstrated general knowledge of various types of interior and exterior paints, solvents, primers, stains, acrylics, lacquers, epoxies, and other industry coatings.
Demonstrated general knowledge and ability to use power equipment related to the painting trade such as airless, spray equipment, power sanders, texture machines, line laser stripping machines or hand application to interior and exterior structures using approved industry standards.
Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office. Ability to keep accurate records of labor, materials, and supplies.
Demonstrated general knowledge and ability to use power equipment related to the painting trade such as airless spray equipment, power sanders, texture machines, line laser stripping machines or hand application to interior and exterior structures using approved industry standards.
Must pass lead paint and respirator certification course.
Must pass physical in order to wear half face negative pressure respirator.
Must be clean-shaven, if certified to wear respirator, always.
Must wear District issued uniform.
Must maintain a valid Texas Driver's License and driving record that meets District standards.
