BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Plans and performs a variety of painting and refinishing activities required for facility maintenance; ensures maintenance of facility aesthetics.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED Preferred
License/Certification Required: Valid TN Driver License
Minimum Work Experience: 2 years experience in drywall and painting.

* Excellent customer service and communication skills.
* Ability to crawl into small spaces and work from ladders.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Works effectively and efficiently from written requisitions or verbal instructions, following directions as instructed and completing tasks in a timely manner. Prioritize urgency of job requests correctly. Asks for direction, as needed.
* Correctly installs wallboard, ceramic and floor tile, and wall covering in indicated areas using appropriate safety precautions and following departmental policies and procedures.
* Selects and mixes appropriate materials, matching colors and tints correctly for spray, brush, or roller painting of walls, ceilings, furnishings, frames, equipment, or other items as instructed. Cleans and prepares wall covering in damaged areas appropriately.
* Identifies, selects, maintains, and uses appropriate tools; safely erects staging and ladders following all operating/set instructions on the equipment. Places wet paint and other warning signs in accordance with the work area requirements.
* Safely uses and correctly disposes paints and solvents, following all rules, regulations, and procedures.
* Detects and reports defective material and unusual conditions to supervisor in a timely manner to ensure the safety of patients, families, staff, and visitors.
* Maintains tools, equipment, and work area in a safe, clean and orderly condition: Cleans and performs maintenance on equipment to ensure all needed equipment is usable when needed.
* Follows all hospital and departmental standards and prescribed safety regulations consistently. Responds to all facility emergency codes in a timely manner. Attends facility-sponsored training in Blood Borne Pathogens, Fire Safety, Right-to-Know, and Chemical Hygiene.
* Assist Engineering Department personnel as assigned by supervisor. Assists with snow removal as situation demands and in a timely manner to ensure the safety of patients, families, staff, and visitors.
* Facilitates the effective timing and scheduling for projects as well as color and selection for various areas and departments of the hospital.
* Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
* Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter-and intra-departmentally to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
* Willingly accepts any other assignment that may be requested.
* Utilizes hospital resources and time respectfully and accountably.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

* Light lifting, pushing and pulling is required for 10-20 lbs occasionally and frequent moving of objects of less than 10 lbs is required. Frequent sitting with some walking, standing, squatting, bending and reaching is required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
