Ready for deliveryReq ID:req18145Position Title:Painter I-IVPosition Type:Staff Full-TimePosition Number:637732, 632569, 637735, 637509OSU Campus:StillwaterDepartment:O&M ZONE 1Location Address:Oklahoma State University Stillwater, Oklahoma, 74078United States Hiring Supervisor:Jeff Sweeden Hiring Range (Contingent upon available funding):15.25 - 23.75, Hourly Work Schedule:M-F 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM or TBD by SupervisorFaculty Appt Period:Job Summary:Paints interior offices, classrooms, hallways, stairwells, and furnishings which includes preparing (scrape, sand, prep) the area/surfaces to be painted, spreading drop cloths, etcHangs sheetrock; tapes, prepares patch, and textures drywall with taping mud, plaster, or spackleApplies various types of materials such as alkyds, acrylics, urethane, epoxies, lacquer, vinyls, and stains with brushes, rollers, and spray equipment to walls, ceilings, floors, window sash, doors, and other furnishings.Mixes /color matches paints, stains, varnishes, and/or enamels to produce desired color.Nearly all paints and thinners are rated hazardous. Work area may contain fumes and dust. Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding, or high-lift equipment.Regularly stands, lifts, bends, stoops, lifts above shoulders and carries 50 lbs or more.Regular exposure to disagreeable conditions, extreme temperature changes, odors and loud noises.Job requirements include occasional use of respiratory equipment; therefore, an individual must be able to pass a medical exam to assure physical ability to wear, use, and perform work in respirator equipment.The employee in this position may be required to work overtime after 4 pm, and/or shift work when management deems necessary. Painter II - IV positions require previous experience in the painting trades. Candidate position placement is dependent upon years of experience and availability. Have before hire and maintain after hire, a valid driver's license. A valid driver's license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned. Job requirements include occasional use of respiratory equipment; therefore, an individual must be able to pass a medical exam to assure physical ability to wear, use, and perform work in respirator equipment. Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding or high-lift equipment. This position is heavy in manual labor and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to follow instructions precisely and completely, have good communication skills, ability to work with very little supervision Positive team standing Ability to become proficient in the use of Aim Computerized Maintenance management System (CMMS) software and the use of mobile technology. Must work safely and promote a safe work environment. Preferred Qualifications: Two years of post-secondary vocational/technical education in the building trades with two to four years of prior successful work experience at the journeyman painter level in the building trades or technical field.
