Summary/ObjectiveIndustrial painter is responsible for applying paint and similar coatings to materials such as metals, drywall and masonry. The Industrial Painter will use various techniques to apply paint or surface coatings, including sprays, rollers, and brushes. In addition to painting,the industrial painter is responsible for cleaning and preparing the surface to be painted, removing finishes (using a hand-held grinder or sandblasting) and cleaning up of the work area after each step of preparation and painting itself is done. - Knowledge of different paints, stains, epoxy, etc. and the properties and applicability to the surface being applied.
- Performs a variety of routine and preventive maintenance painting duties, such as steel structural equipment and preparation for enamel, epoxy, and latex painting in a professional manner utilizing safety standards.
- Prepare and paint a variety of surfaces including steel, ferrous metal, interior drywall, shop coated metal and uncoated metal; protect and prime surfaces as appropriate; apply finish coating.
- Uses hand-held grinder when needed to remove previous finishes on metal surfaces. Uses sprays, roller and or brush for paint application in an open area. At times will use a sandblaster to prepare surfaces for painting.
- Cleans up work areas, equipment, supplies and materials; apply standard safety practices and procedures.
- Keep daily time and records of painting projects.

Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The employee is exposed to a variety of extreme conditions when working outside, dependent upon weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment can at time be loud.Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position. Regular hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 40 hours per week. This position is subject to working extended hours and weekends.Required Education and Experience
