Job Description:
The operating engineer will ensure a safe, efficient, and well-maintained hotel environment.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining mechanical items (preventatvie maintenance) in guest rooms.
- Maintains (paint, wallpaper, plaster, etc.) all public areas and guest rooms on an on-going basis.
- Keep the hotel decor in good condition.
- Perform CARE, PRP (Guest room preventative maintenance), Public Area maintenance and select Equipment preventative maintenance to the specifications required by Omni in both quantity and quality.
- Receive direction from engineering management on daily assignments or projects and complete within the time and manner specified or in accordance with hotel needs.
- Receive direction for house calls via radio and respond promptly and appropriately.
- Ability to properly prioritize workload in a dynamic environment.
- Understand and be able to receive and update work requests from the work request system (Synergy).
- Complete appropriate documents and logs for work assigned on a daily basis or as a project.
- Assist engineers and mechanics with repairs and learn while helping with those repairs.
- Embrace all learning and training opportunities.
- Willing to learn and understand the Omni fire alarm procedures and how to handle other emergencies.
- Willing to learn and understand the Standards of Practice for the Engineering Department.
- Willing to learn and understand the importance of Lock out Tag out, the dangers of arc flashes and other precautions that need to be taken around equipment.
- Able to understand the importance of cleaning all work areas after completing a job and have the habit of doing so.
- Maintain engineering shops in a clean and organized manner.
- Maintain engineering parts and supplies inventory.
- Respond to any reasonable task as assigned by manager
- Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions; complete safety training and certifications.
- Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure clean uniform and professional personal appearance; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals
- Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. Stand or walk for an extended period or for an entire 8 hour work shift. Requires repetitive motion.
- Be able to use drills, hammers, knives, wrenches, ladders, screwdrivers, welding tools, blow torch, desktop computer, printer, telephone, hand-help communications devices and all other appropriate supplies and equipment
Qualifications:
- Must have great interpersonal skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Prior skills or experience that is relevant to building maintenance
- Be able to fully understand, read and write in the English language
