IntroductionWinnebago Mental Health Institute (WMHI), located near Oshkosh Wisconsin, is looking for a Painter to work from 7:00am - 3:30pm, Monday - Friday with additional hours and weekends as needed by the facility . Position SummaryAs a Painter, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Applying interior and exterior paints, stains, varnishes, epoxies, and waterproofing.
- Preparing interior and exterior surfaces for painting by repairing, sanding, spackling, glazing, plastering, etc.
- Working with other staff and advising on products and applications.
- Complying with institution policies.
- Provide accurate and complete paint reports.
Salary InformationThe starting salary is $31.11 - $32.11 per hour , depending upon leave time selected. A 12-month probationary period is required. This position is represented by the Wisconsin State Building Trades bargaining unit. Pay for current or former state employees is set based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 04/00.
Job DetailsAll applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by the facility, or medical personnel directed by the facility prior to their start date. DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
QualificationsMinimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:
- Experience applying paint, enamel, stain, epoxy or other coatings to prepared surfaces using brush, spray, roller, cloth, or other means.
- Experience applying primer material coatings to prepared surfaces using brush, spray, roller, cloth, or other means.
- Experience using proper preparation techniques for preparing surfaces to receive primer and paint (e.g. drywall, CMU block, wood, metal etc.).
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:
- Experience mixing and matching paints, stains, epoxy, and other coatings using mixing formulas and measured colorants.
- Preparing and finishing new and existing plaster, drywall, or varied metal textured surfaces using appropriate patching materials, plaster, drywall compounds, and epoxy fillers.
- Experience replacing exterior and interior windows, including glazing.
- Preparing estimates and reports.
