Job Title: Painter Department: Operations Responsible to: Superintendent/VP of Operations Responsibilities:
- Make on-site preparations such as building scaffolding, covering fixtures etc.
- Prepare walls and stucco for painting by scraping, using sandpaper, removing old paint, power washing with or without detergent, etc.
- Fill cracks and holes with appropriate material (i.e. plaster)
- Mix paint and other materials to prepare the right color or texture
- Paint surfaces according to instructions with various tools
- Able to apply paint by spray application and/or back roll method
- Apply varnish and other finishes
- Take and adhere to all health and safety precautions
- Work with other constructions professionals, such as carpenters, electricians and plumbers to prepare units
- Protect all nearby furnishings and building materials before and during every painting job, including carpets, cabinetry, outlet covers, lighting fixtures and landscaping
- Practice self-supervision on small jobs and ensure completion of each project in an efficient, timely manner
- Match paint samples for touch-ups and other projects
- Removing fixtures such as door knobs and light switch covers
- Taping off areas as needed
- Cleaning up supplies and replacing fixtures when project is complete
Skills:
- High School Diploma/GED preferred
- Some commercial or residential painting experience preferred
- Reliable transportation and clean driving record
- Ability to complete projects on time and on budget
- Excellent communication and team-building skills
- Ability to climb ladders and carry equipment
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Attention to detail
- Physical dexterity
- Strong ability to follow directions
