Position Summary: This role involves painting equipment, parts, machinery, and the interiors and exteriors of ships and shipyard buildings within our expansive 63-acre facility. The candidate will also be responsible for surface preparation by removing old paint and mixing paints or oils to achieve the desired color or consistency. Detailed Description:
- Work under intermittent supervision, following directions as provided.
- Skilled in mixing and thinning all types of coatings as required.
- Operate blast pots and paint pumps proficiently.
- Competent in pressure washing.
- Use conventional and airless spray guns with ease.
- Set up blast pots, paint pumps, and all necessary hoses and lines.
- Clean and maintain equipment as needed.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues as they arise.
- Store equipment and pumps correctly.
- Perform additional tasks outside of primary craft as needed.
- Clean tanks and machinery spaces to meet gas-free specifications.
- Attendance is a critical requirement for this position.
- Engage in physically demanding tasks on the waterfront with high energy.
- Uphold and promote the company's Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety policies.
- Follow all organizational policies and procedures.
Physical Job Demands:
- Multiple times daily, carry a 40lb bucket of tools and supplies to and from job sites, involving walking and climbing stairs/ladders.
- Occasionally pull tarps across boat decks, lifting 50lbs from the floor to 72 and pulling with a 50lb force for 100'.
- Occasionally carry hoses weighing 15lbs for 100', including stairs.
- Pressure wash while lifting a 5lb pressure washing gun, bending, reaching, and standing at varying heights.
- Sandblast using a 12lb blasting gun with 120lbs of pressure force, working in standing, bending, reaching positions, and climbing ladders/stairs.
- Paint using various devices (up to 5lbs), in positions including standing, sitting, bending, and climbing ladders/stairs.
- Daily, connect hoses to the blaster Meiser by pushing with 15lbs of force, squatting, and reaching.
- Occasionally use grinders/sanders by carrying up to 12lbs and utilizing them in various positions.
- Daily, remove sand from dry dock with a broom and shovel, lifting and carrying up to 20lbs of force.
- Fill portable sand tanks, lifting 30lbs and carrying them 30', pouring into a hopper at 45 height.
- Daily, carry 5-gallon paint pails weighing up to 55lbs for about 25'.
- Set and place warning lights, lifting and carrying 33lbs for 100'.

- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, and to be fit for a respirator.
- Proficiency in using a tape measure, pressure gauge, level, and square.
