- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Must meet NCLB requirements for Highly Qualified. (i.e. at minimum, an Associate's Degree, 60 hours of college credit, OR successful score on the ETS ParaPro Assessment.)
- Bilingual preferred
- Experience working with ELL students preferred
- Work effectively with EL team and building staff to best support students and learning
- Ability to work well under the direction of program coordinator, administrators, and classroom teachers
- Show evidence of initiative and enthusiasm
- Ability to keep accurate records on activities with students as required by program guidelines
- Willingness and ability to conduct face to face and virtual learning activities and instruction.
- Support and educate families through virtual support
- May be required to take a skills test
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Understand the program guidelines
- Understand and support Huron Valley's objectives for EL students
- Provide ACCESS curriculum to focus on language development: speaking, listening, reading & writing goals
- Provide content language learning through hands-on experiences, games, inquiry based activities
- Assist with the identification of EL students and communicate with staff (WIDA scores, Can Do's)
- Focus on language goals, academic vocabulary, essay writing, goal setting and tracking student progress
- Assist with administering of WIDA screeners and assessment
- Provide iReady support to students and families
- Engage in professional learning opportunities, training, and department meetings to grow professionally
- Perform any other duties as required by the program coordinator, administrator or classroom teacher
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma and/or related experience. LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL AND REASONING SKILLS: Ability to speak and write effectively. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
