Position Type: Temporary/Work As Needed/Temporary StaffingDate Posted: 11/2/2023Location: Elementary/Middle/HighDate Available: ASAPJob Description Title: SUBSTITUTE PARA-EDUCATOR This Position is: Non-Exempt Primary Function: Assists the classroom teacher by performing assigned duties related to the learning process such as assembling and preparing instructional materials and monitoring students under the direction/supervision of the teacher or building administrator in the absence of the regular Para-educator. Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or copy of high school transcript.
  • Ability to quickly learn procedures.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
Reports to: Principal and Director of Human Resources Performance Responsibilities:
  • Responsibilities:
    • Reports to the designated individual upon arrival at the school.
    • Demonstrates a willingness to work with all students.
    • Maintains student confidentiality.
    • Reports student incidents or accidents to appropriate administrator as deemed necessary.
  • Requirements:
    • Follows all policies, rules and procedures.
    • Remains in the building or on school grounds during the hours assigned as a Substitute.
    • Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrates some knowledge of the principles and methodologies of a Para-Educator.

  • Possesses the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, & the public.

    • Possess the physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds, ability to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and to reach overhead.
