Summary

Works under the direction and supervision of an attorney to assist in all aspects of the litigation process and contract preparation process along with related filings and maintenance of tickler systems. Acts as a representative of the department and the Network in communications with internal stakeholders, external law firms, governmental agencies and the courts. Job Duties

  • Under an attorney's supervision provides initial discovery responses, drafts contract, litigation, and plead documents, and performs docket inquiries.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to obtain discovery documents necessitating review of contractual documents, historical documentation and responsible for regularly communicating with outside counsel to assist with case preparation.
  • Serves as a representative of the department and Network in interactions with outside law firms, governmental agencies and courts. Collaborates with key internal stakeholders to obtain discovery documents necessitating review of contractual and historical documentation.
  • Schedules depositions, meetings, and preparation sessions with counsel and witnesses. Maintains tickler file for work, and filing/ discovery deadlines.
  • Performs file management, maintains case logs and prepares reports on work activities. Maintains process for review, approval and documentation of legal and insurance expenses and ensures that payment of bills/judgments/settlements are appropriately documented.
  • Documents reserves, new claims and updates claim statuses into RRG claims management software. Processes requests for claim histories for current and terminated providers. Manages financial reporting within risk connect and prepares quarterly loss run statements to insurance carriers.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 3 years as a legal paralegal, operating in the capacity of a legal assistant/paralegal.
  • Knowledge of legal functions and procedural/substantive civil litigation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and succinctly.
  • Proficiency with MS office products and familiarity with electronic court dockets.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree or Paralegal Certificate.
Physical Demands

Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
