Please contact Human Resources if you require an accommodation.BASIC FUNCTION: To provide broad-based support to in-house counsel in responding to Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests and FOIL appeals; performing legal tasks in connection with the implementation of Empire State Development's economic development mission and purpose. WORK PERFORMED: Responsibilities can include some or all the following:
- FOIL: Provide support to the Corporation's Record Access Officer in responding to FOIL requests for records:
- running searches for and collecting relevant material
- document review
- maintaining log of requests and responses
- calendaring and managing deadlines;
- drafting and preparing both internal and external correspondence
- corresponding with members of the public regarding requests, and
- preparing responses.
- Other Legal Tasks: Assist other members of the Legal Department with legal work on an as-needed basis and upon request.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Education Level Required: Bachelor's degree preferred. Associate's degree with 7 years, direct relevant experience may substitute. Relevant Experience required: A minimum of three (3) years of experience required.
