Job Purpose The Paralegal will be working directly with a team of in-house attorneys and paralegals as well as outside counsels and Title Companies. The majority of work will be through email and telephone dealing with loan closings, post-closing deliverables, repo/securitization financing and payoffs. Essential Job Functions (Duties/Responsibilities) The Paralegal will have the following duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Work closely with SVP, Senior Transactions Manager and team of in-house attorneys and paralegals on a wide variety of Real Estate transactions including Bridge, Mezzanine, Preferred Equity, Construction and Single Family Rentals.
- Assist with collection and review of due diligence items post close including title reports and recorded documents.
- Manage the distribution of original loan documents both in house and to external third-party custodians.
- Assist with preparation, review and execution of loan documents, including special projects, and attend closings as needed.
- Prepare, review and record assignment documents for post close transfer of assets into banking lines, warehouses and/or securitization vehicles.
- Create and maintain a system for the organization and maintenance of documents across all platforms.
QualificationsEducation: Paralegal Certificate/Bachelor's Degree Experience: Minimum of 2 - 3 years Commercial Real Estate lending experience in a mid to large size Law Firm or a nationally recognized Title Insurance Company (as a Title Closer); Banking / Warehouse / Securitization experience a plus. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Experience with review/audit of due diligence items including Title, Survey, Organization Documents and UCCs;
- History of working with recordable items (Mortgages, UCC filings);
- Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail;
- Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills;
- Proactively problem solving with a strong sense of accountability;
- Self-motivated;
- Analytical; and
- Work independently and as part of a team.
Travel: 0 - 10% travel in the NYC/Long Island area. Arbor Realty Trust, Inc. offers a competitive base salary and discretionary bonus. The starting base salary range for this position is $70,000 to $85,000. The specific compensation that will be offered is based on an understanding of the hired candidates' qualifications at the time of hire. Employees are eligible for a discretionary bonus based on employee work performance reviewed during the course of the year. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, and/or other benefits including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits.
