Location: Farmingdale, NY Category: Executive/Management (MC Positions including Deans) Posted On: Fri Nov 1 2024 Job Description:Farmingdale State College seeks a skilled and detail-oriented paralegal to provide legal support to the Office of Legal Affairs. This position will have primary responsibility for the review, preparation and tracking of all non-procurement related legal agreements for the College. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with, and on behalf of, the various departments on campus requesting agreements. In addition to managing legal agreements, the paralegal will play a critical role in improving office efficiency by leveraging technology to streamline legal processes. The position will also act as a backup to the Legal Liaison, assisting with record requests, conducting legal research and supporting campus litigation. This position reports directly to the Legal Liaison.Responsibilities:Assist the AVP for Administration with the review, preparation and tracking of all non-procurement related agreements that are entered into by the College, ensuring that all related legal regulations and policies of OSC, SUNY and the College are followed.Review, prepare and track all affiliation/internship agreements for academic departments.Collaborate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to the execution of legal contracts.Lead the implementation of a contract management system to improve the efficiency of managing campus agreements.Assist the Legal Liaison in initiating litigation holds and gathering necessary documentation related to campus litigation.Serve as a backup to the College's Records Access Officer, assisting with record requests and Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests received by the College.Support the continuous improvement of legal processes through innovative use of technology.Conduct research on various legal topics as requested.Perform other duties as assigned.The college particularly welcomes candidates with knowledge, skills and abilities that include:Commitment to diversity and university initiatives supportive of diversity and inclusion.Interest in participating in student-centered service activities.Desire to apply expertise in promoting civic engagement with the College's many community partners.Job Requirements:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Associate's degree and Certified Paralegal.A minimum of 2 years of experience in a legal setting.Strong project management, organizational, and customer service skills.Strong technology skills, with experience using tools to improve office efficiency.Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to effectively manage multiple and competing priorities and deadlines.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree.Experience working in complex regulatory environments.Knowledge of contract law.Experience in higher education.Experience negotiating educational agreements.Experience with contract management systems.Additional Information:This is a full-time M/C position.CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Saturday, November 30, 2024SALARY: $65,000/year.
