We are currently in search of a skilled Litigation Paralegal to join our client's Houston office. This position requires a highly organized, detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment. The ideal candidate will bring at least 5 years of civil trial experience as a law firm paralegal with commercial litigation matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research using various sources, including statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, and codes.
- Prepare and file legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, and contracts for attorney review and approval.
- Investigate case facts and legal precedents to support case preparation.
- Assist with all aspects of trial preparation, including depositions, mediations, and hearings.
- Manage courtroom technology and resolve on-site technical issues.
- Organize and set up technology for use during trials, mediations, and hearings.
- Be available as needed during trials to support attorneys with logistics and technical setup.
- Coordinate and schedule meeting rooms for attorneys during trials.
- Provide discovery assistance, including document indexing, labeling, and proofreading.
- Maintain docket and calendar deadlines, and handle e-filing with both State and Federal courts.
- E-file and conduct searches with the Secretary of State.
- Prepare presentations and assist with the running of courtroom technology.
- Open new client files, manage conflicts checks, and facilitate client communication.
- Handle administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, preparing routine correspondence, assisting with billing, and managing mail.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a litigation paralegal in a law firm setting.
- A Bachelors degree and/or paralegal certification from an ABA-approved program is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of the litigation process from start to finish.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills to handle a high-volume caseload.
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Timeslips, and e-filing systems.
- Experience with courtroom technology, including TrialDirector, TrialPad, and NetDocs, is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Punctual, reliable, and able to maintain confidentiality.
