Job Title: Paraprofessional/Assistant SCUC-ISD & Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) GRANT Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt

Dept./School: Academic Services Pay Grade: C3 ($16.57 - $20.20)

Reports To: Director of Counseling & CCMR Services Days/Dates: 206

Primary Purpose:

* Assist in the preparation and management of RAMP-UP! grant resources and administrative requirements.

* Assist in the classroom with materials management /Makerspace Kit Boxes and replacement materials.

* Work under supervision of certified teacher when in the classroom Work under the general supervision of Director of Counseling and CCMR and immediate direction of the DoDEA Grant Project Director

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

* High school diploma or GED

* 48 college hours or have met formal academic assessment as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)

* Valid Texas educational aide certificate

* Must pass a pre-employment physical examination

Special Knowledge/Skills:

* Ability to interact and work well with children

* Ability to communicate effectively

* Ability to organize materials in and out of the classrooms

* Ability to schedule resource calendar for preparation, delivery, and pick-up

* Ability to work as a team to accomplish DoDEA grant goals

Experience:

* Some experience working with children

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

* Assist in the assembling of the K-6 STEAM Makerspace Lab Boxes (8 per grade level K-6 at ten schools)

* Assist in the refurbishing and reloading of materials in the STEAM Makerspace Lab boxes upon return from campuses

* Assist in compiling critical data from the STEAM Makerspace Lab boxes to include, but not limited to, class rosters, teacher feedback forms, student feedback forms, etc.

* Assist in the scheduling of Makerspace lab boxes to be delivered and picked up from ten campuses or their assigned campuses

* Deliver and pick up Makerspace lab boxes from their assigned campuses (3 or 4) in a timely manner

* Assist in the overall on-going DODEA Grant inventory of resources and supplies during the life of the grant to include receiving and processing of incoming inventory

* Actively assist the classroom teachers in materials management and guidance of Makerspace lab boxes at the campuses when available as in-class support

* Actively assist in Ramp-Up Grant district wellness events to include set-up, running activities during the event and clean-up at each of the semester events in years two through five

* Assist teachers with Makerspace instruction when available

* Upon request from a campus, coordinated through DoDEA Grant Project Director, assist in the proctoring of MAP screener assessments when students are enrolled between scheduled district MAP testing dates

* Actively assist secondary schools in conducting District wellness events

* Actively support STEMKAMP preparation and week

* Assist in DoDEA Grant district events to include: set up, active role during the event and clean-up.

* Maintain confidentiality.

* Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.

* Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling; regular heavy lifting of supplies. Biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases.

* Tool/Equipment Used: Computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment

* Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

* Motion: Frequent walking

* Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment

* Transportation: Required personal vehicle to deliver and pick up makerspace kits to and from assigned schools

* Environment: Primarily inside, sometimes outdoors, regular exposure to noise and varying temperatures
