Job Position: Paraprofessional/ Instructional AssistantLocation: Bethlehem City, Lehigh County Pennsylvania 18017Pay Rate: $20.00/hrShift: First ShiftDescription: The person filling this position will have the responsibility of assisting the classroom teacher in instructing and supervising students. Applicants willing to go to any surrounding district will be highly considered. Employer paid clearances.Instructional Assistant will have the authority to perform all functions listed below in accordance with established policies and procedures.Functions/Duties/Responsibilities:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function/duty/responsibility at acceptable standards. In accordance with state and/or federal law, reasonable accommodations will be considered upon employee request.Essential Duties:Assist in teaching responsibilities, working with students individually and in small groups on academic/developmentally-appropriate activities, social interactions, communication, practical life skills, and behavior management.Monitor students and continue classroom activities if the teacher is interrupted and/or involved in other program activities.Assist in preparing instructional and classroom materials.Collect data for Medical Assistance logs and IEP progress reporting.Perform appropriate lifting, positioning, and transferring techniques to accommodate students' needs.Monitor/assist students with personal hygiene/toileting/diapering, changing clothes, and feeding activities.Utilize classroom materials for student activities.Keep daily attendance records and perform clerical work related to classroom programs.Use strategies, as directed, to increase student independence.Prepare, distribute, and collect notes to parents.Operate computers, assistive technology devices, and other related equipment.Assist in maintaining inventory and ordering materials from warehousing.Answer telephones.Escort students to the nurse, therapies, general education classes, and other activities as needed.Supervise and assist with self-help skills, such as feeding or drinking during snack and lunch times.Assist with contacts for community-based activities.Assist with special projects and programs.Monitor outdoor and physical activities and assist with bus/van loading and unloading.Use strategies, equipment, materials, and technologies to accomplish instructional objectives.Assist with behavior management strategies as directed.Use strategies, as directed, to increase students' independence and confidence.Serve as a role model for individuals with exceptional learning needs.Exercise objective and prudent judgment.Assist related services staff with the implementation of therapies as needed.Assist in the implementation of emergency evacuation drills and procedures.Participate in professional development trainings and maintain 20/15 hours of professional development per year.Requirements:High School Diploma or equivalentAssociates Degree or Highly Qualified Status preferredProvided trainingsBackground checks and clearances.TB test
