North Lakes Academy Charter School is seeking a reliable candidate for the role of paraprofessional to support our special education students and staff, with an immediate start date possible. While licensure is not required, at least one year of experience as a paraprofessional or in any educational support role, as well as experience supervising children, is preferred. Paraprofessionals will assist general education teachers and special education case managers, providing individualized support for students receiving special education services. In addition to 3.5 hours per day as a paraprofessional, the role includes a 3-hour kitchen assistant position during lunchtime. The total work requirement is 6.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday, on student contact days, with potential attendance at staff workdays. North Lakes Academy (NLA) is a K-12 charter school located in Forest Lake, Minnesota, a community about 25 miles north of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The school was organized by a group of Forest Lake area parents and teachers seeking an alternative to the large junior high schools available to the children in the community. NLA was chartered in the spring of 1999 and opened for operation that fall. In 2009, we expanded to include grades 9-12, and grew again in 2019 when we opened a new facility to add grades K-4. Currently, we operate an elementary campus (grades K-6) and a secondary campus (grades 7-12) both in Forest Lake, serving a total of 550 students. At all grade levels, we embrace the principles of small class sizes, personalized learning, and a diverse liberal arts education, which includes fostering the emotional intelligence of our students and building strong relationships between families, staff, and students.
