Position Type: Special Services/ParaprofessionalDate Posted: 8/1/2024Location: District WideSUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: The paraprofessional assists teachers by performing a variety oftasks that promote student learning and well-being. The paraprofessional works individually and in small groups to provide instructional, behavioral, and other support to students with disabilities both in and out of the classroom. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of child development.
- General knowledge of instructional strategies and practices to support students with disabilities.
- Ability to use technology into the delivery of curriculum.
- Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, and school based staff, students, parents and community.
- Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
- Basic understanding of how to engage with and support students with special needs.
- Ability to use and support technology, software, and devices.
- Ability to assist with implementation of the instructional program and to support and monitor student behavior.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and to perform all required tasks.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED required.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
- A hourly rate increase of $0.75 will be paid for Para Educator II certification.
SCHEDULE:
- Part-time, 5.5 hours per day (27.5 per week).
