Job Summary

Conducts the prenatal and postpartum visits in the home and over the phone, in a manner that supports the purpose of the Welcome Baby Program. Responsible for supporting families, conducting assessments and providing parent education in the areas of prenatal and postnatal care, breastfeeding, parent-infant attachment, child development, home safety and other maternal and child health related topics; Identifying client strengths, needs. Provides and models empathetic support and feedback when working with new moms, babies and family members. Works closely with supervisor and other parent coach team members.

Job Requirements

a. Minimum Education Requirement :

Bachelor's degree preferred in child development, social work, psychology, human development, public health education, social studies, anthropology, human services, women's studies or related field with at least one year of experience in maternal and child home visitation, or Child Development Associate (CDA) or AA degree with maternal and child health experience and at least two years of experience in maternal and child home visitation. Bilingual preferred.

b. Minimum Experience Requirement :

1-2 years of experience in maternal and child home visitation, depending on level of education. Skill in organizing and maintaining accurate records. Knowledge of normal fetal, infant, and toddler development; prenatal and child health requirements; and early childhood education best practices. Knowledge about community resources and ability to refer families as suitable. Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point, internet software) and experience in using electronic medical record required. Ability to work independently. Experience in working with families from diverse age, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

c. Minimum License Requirement :

Certified lactation educator (CLE) or certified lactation counselor (CLC) at a minimum; or certification must be completed within six months of hire; alternately staff may be certified lactation consultant (CLC) or international board certified lactation consultant (IBCLC/RLC). California Driver`s License, transportation, and valid car insurance required. LVN preferred.

Pay Range:

$26.83 - $38.37
