ABOUT THE POSITIONThe Partnership for Los Angeles Schools is seeking an Outreach Team Member for the 2024-2025 Parent College program cycle. Parent College is an educational program where participating families can strengthen their ability to dream, learn, act, and advocate on behalf of their children. Parent College Team Members serve as direct connections between the Parent College program and families in the Partnership network and engage with families daily. The Partnership currently serves over 13,550 students and families in the communities of South LA, Watts, and Boyle Heights that primarily identify as Black/African American and Latinx. The Outreach Team is responsible for providing high-quality, culturally responsive, and continuous customer service to those families, and providing pathways for them to join the Parent College program. This is a part-time (20 hours per week), non-exempt position. The Partnership is committed to continuously building an anti-racist culture that promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in classrooms and our home office. The Outreach Team Member will be someone who is committed to implementing these values in creative ways when executing day-to-day tasks and responsibilities. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIESPosition responsibilities include but are not limited to: Community Outreach
- Providing high-quality, culturally responsive, and continuous customer service to program participants through phone banking and in-person outreach opportunities at Partnership schools
- Supporting all aspects of Parent College (both in-person & virtual) as needed
- Tracking individual data and productivity by using Google Sheets
Special Projects & Parent College Coordination
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Family Engagement Programs
- Contribute to the success of weekly Outreach Team meetings
- Attending team retreats, Parent College instructor retreats, and all scheduled team PD
POSITION FIRST-YEAR PRIORITIESA successful first year in this role will look like:
- Familiarize with the Parent College program by attending all sessions throughout the year
- Develop working relationships with each member of the Outreach Team
- Engage and build relationships with Partnership families at assigned schools through phone calls, text messaging, and in-person events
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience using a laptop/iPad and Google Suite, including Outlook, Sheets, Slides, and Docs (Note: technical support is regularly provided)
- Experience creating welcoming spaces of belonging for students and families is preferred
- Experience building relationships with families from diverse communities, such as Watts, Boyle Heights, and South LA preferred
- Excellent organization and coordination skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with team members
- Experience with phone banking and community outreach
- Experience working alongside Latinx and Black/African American communities
- The ability to travel between school sites and Partnership home office
- Spanish language fluency (spoken and written), preferred
- Working understanding of K-12 public education sector, preferred
- A deep belief in the power of our communities, as well as the Partnership's mission, approach, and core values
- A commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment for all team members

COMPENSATION & BENEFITSThe starting hourly rate for external candidates is $22 an hour. Members work 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, though schedules may vary depending on team needs and events.
