Classified - Position - Other, please specify Job Number 370####### Start Date Open Date 01/15/2024 Closing Date Job Description POSITION TITLE: PARENT AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT LIAISON REPORTS TO: BUILDING PRINCIPAL OVER-TIME STATUS: NON-EXEMPT PAY GRADE: 415 JOB SUMMARY: Provides support to the district schools by working with school administration and the Office of Special Programs to implement policies and coordinate programs to build capacity for Parent and Family Engagement. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Duties and responsibilities of the Parent & Family Engagement Liaison are as assigned by the building administration may include but are not limited to the following: Working in collaboration with school principals and other stakeholders/groups to plan, coordinate, and implement a Parent & Family Engagement Program at each school Contacting parents and students through house visits and telephone calls; Conducting periodic home visits to assess family resources and needs;Working closely with identified families to ensure they receive continued support for their child's educational goals;Preparing and delivering home activity packets; Providing information to parents about the resources available to them throughout the school system and community; Becoming familiar with the services of the Parent Resource Center;Performing Parent & Family Engagement related tasks as required by and building administration;Networking with community stakeholders to secure additional resources;Working with school administration to develop Family Engagement Policy and School Compacts;Recruiting family and community volunteers/partners;Assisting with preparing and disseminating flyers, letters, and other important information to parents;Working with teachers to provide homework assistance and instructional supplies for parents to use at home and school;Providing orientation for all students and parents new to the school; Advertising all Parent & Family Engagement activities through a variety of media;Performs related tasks as required. JOB SPECIFICATIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills. Must hold a valid driver's license. Must exercise strict confidence in handling sensitive parent and student information. Ability to deal effectively with students, parents, and teachers. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, parents, students, and the general public. Must be proficient in using Microsoft Office. This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects, and some light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. Some teaching specialties (i.e. music, art, physical education, etc.) may require hearing, vision, physical coordination and/or exertion and effort in excess of those listed above. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess an Associate's Degree or 48 semester credit hours at an accredited college or university. Some experience in working with students and parents of the appropriate age range.
