PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) - ANGELES DISTRICT / LOS ANGELES / LOS ANGELES STATE HISTORIC PARK
Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application. The reporting location for this position is Los Angeles State Historic Park. This position will work under the supervision of the Community Engagement Supervisor.
Los Angeles State Historic Park (LASHP) is seeking a Park Aide to assist with visitor services, interpretive programs, special events and office operations. The Park Aide will work under the direction of a Staff Park and Recreation Specialist. The position will work approximately 40 hours per week including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
The Park Aide staff member is responsible for assisting with the efficient operation of the Community Engagement Programs at the three river adjacent state properties: Los Angeles State Historic Park, Rio de Los Angeles State Park, and Bowtie Parcel.
This includes but is not limited to coordinating the ongoing programs such as seasonal campfire and bi-monthly art workshops; assisting with other weekly and monthly programs such as the farmer's market and food distribution events as needed; outreach and marketing; developing programs; staffing the welcome center as needed; tabling at community events; gathering community feedback and generally supporting the engagement programs and events.
This position requires regular loading and unloading of various materials, including tables, chairs, tents, bins, etc.
This position also includes administrative duties, including filling out forms, supporting office organization and cleanliness, and other duties as assigned.
Possession of a valid driver license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)

Desirable Qualifications

Experience meeting and interacting with the public successfully, including public speaking and working well with a variety of people across diverse demographics. Reliable and courteous at all times to park visitors, volunteers, and staff.
Experience assisting with or developing programs and events.
Familiarity with outdoor programs and events is a plus.
