  • General supervision is provided by the District Park Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adheres to assigned work scheduled as outlined in city and department attendance policies and procedures.
  • Lead, plan, train, and perform the work for preparing a safe athletic facility (field maintenance).
  • Drive to and from destinations as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Visual inspection of athletic fields for hazardous conditions.
  • Lead and participate in a variety of facilities maintenance duties including the preparation of baseball fields by resodding and leveling the base paths on the baseball diamond, dragging and marking of bases, cutting of lines, and clearing debris from the parking lots.
  • Supervise the use of and operate a variety of tools and equipment including power tools, lawn mowers, trucks, and tractors; perform general maintenance duties including refueling, lubricating parts and changing oil in assigned equipment; make minor adjustments as necessary.
  • Conduct park patrols and inspections to ensure the safety of the public and the park facilities; note possible safety hazards or causes of injury; contact appropriate law enforcement or emergency agency as required; prepare appropriate reports and documentation; perform general maintenance and repair to park facilities as required.
  • Participate in park maintenance site inspection to assure work is completed in a satisfactory and thorough manner.
  • Oversee and participate in the preparation and application of a variety of fertilizers, pesticides, insecticides and other pest and disease eradication and control chemicals as necessary.
  • Oversee and participate in the installation, maintenance and repair of fencing.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTSEDUCATION
  • Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
EXPERIENCE
  • Two (2) years of increasingly responsible athletic field maintenance experience.(or)
  • Four (4) years parks and recreation maintenance operation experience.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
WORK SCHEDULE
  • Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.Overtime as needed.

Basic Group Life Insurance protection is provided to eligible full-time employees in the amount of two times the annual salary as recorded at the beginning of each year. The following voluntary benefits are available to full-time employees: Supplemental Life, AD&D Insurance, Cancer Insurance and Long-Term DisabilityTexas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS): All employees appointed to positions designated to work 1,000 hours or more per year must participate in the TMRS. TMRS is a qualified tax-deferred retirement plan under Section 401 of the IRS. Seven (7) percent of gross earnings are deducted each payroll as a pre-tax deduction and deposited into the member account.
