Physical work is required along with independent judgment in the operations, maintenance and custodial cleaning of specific city facilities. Work is performed under the general direction of the Recreation Manager. This position does require working a variable part-time schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays. Examples of Duties Essential Functions: These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position. Assists staff during various program activities and special events offered by Parks and Recreation. Performs daily tasks related to park maintenance (Cleaning restrooms; picking up trash/litter; prepping pavilions; turning on/off athletic lights per schedule; opening and closing parks as needed; assessing athletic court conditions during bad weather). Sweeps, cleans and stocks rest rooms with supplies; cleans courts, walks, and other recreational equipment and facilities; may assist in setting up tables and chairs for recreational activities. Responds to requests for service or emergency help. Reports situation to supervisor and assists in resolution. Performs all work and enforces all park rules in accordance with established safety protocols and procedures. Prepares reports and other work records including, but not limited to, daily and other periodic reports assigned to this work classification, equipment operations and maintenance reports, and damage reports as needed. Assists with procurement/inventory of needed materials and supplies. Assumes responsibility of working supervisor as required.Follows safe working practices and has a working knowledge of safety practices and procedures in accordance with the City's Safety and Health Program. All employees serve an essential role in the City's disaster preparation and/or disaster recovery efforts, as may be designated by the City's Emergency Manager. Additional Duties: Performs related tasks or other duties as required or assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma, GED, or equivalent and residential or commercial janitorial cleaning experience. A comparable amount of training, education or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License. Must have or be able to complete ICS 100 and 700 courses within six (6) months of hire. Supplemental Information Special Requirements Knowledge of custodial cleaning methods, practices, and procedures and the ability to perform. Knowledge of effective customer service practices. Knowledge of business English, spelling and punctuation, in order to prepare documents and reports, etc. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.Ability to perform manual labor.Ability to meet and deal effectively with the public and to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with outside professional associates, fellow employees, and members of the public. Working Conditions This is moderate work requiring the exertion of 25 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work requires climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping and feeling; also assembly or fabrication of parts at or within arm's length, operation of machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment, and observing general surroundings and activities. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken words. Hearing is required to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound. Visual acuity is required for use of measuring devices.
