Must be 17+ years old and possess a valid, non-probationary WI driver's license.The City of Sun Prairie Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department is seeking 4-6 Building Attendants to support year-round operations at the Wetmore Park East Shelter. Building Attendants will ensure the safe, efficient use of the facility for both private rentals and ice skating warming shelter hours. Shifts are flexible and will be assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. Warming House Hours (January - February)Wednesday - Friday, 4:00 - 8:00 pm Saturday & Sunday, 12:00 - 4:00 pm *If weather conditions allow, Warming House could open in December If the rinks are not skateable due to poor ice conditions, shifts will be cancelled with a 12-24 hour notice.Private Rental Hours (March - December)8:00 am - 2:00 pm, 3:00 - 9:00 pm, or 8:00 am - 9:00 pm 7 days/week as reservations are made During mid-June - end of August, rentals will only occur on Saturdays and SundaysTo stay on payroll, Building Attendants must work a minimum of 12 hours per quarterEssential Job Functions
- Major Duties/Essential Functions - Warming House (January - February)
- Monitor ice conditions for safety and report any concerns to the parks crew. Close rinks due to poor conditions if needed.
- Snow removal around shelter, along sidewalks and park paths, and on ice.
- Ensure skaters are following all ice skating safety rules.
- Provide cleaning of the warming shelter, including cleaning the restrooms, wiping down surfaces and emptying trash bins.
- Monitor restrooms, replenishing supplies such as toilet paper and soap when necessary.
- Greet and assist visitors, providing them with information about the park and warming shelter.
- Ensure a welcoming and safe environment within the warming shelter, addressing any inappropriate behavior as needed.
- Lock up the facility at the end of each shift if ice skating hours conclude.
Major Duties/Essential Functions - Private Rentals (March - December)- Assist with setup for private rentals, ensuring the facility is ready for use.
- Check renters in and out at the beginning and end of their reservation period.
- Ensure rental attendees follow all park and facility rules.
- Oversee attendee cleanup, including proper storage of tables and chairs, and cleaning out the fridge and kitchen area.
- Lock up the building securely after the conclusion of the rental.
- Monitor restrooms, replenishing toilet paper, soap, and other supplies as needed.
- Report any immediate issues to park staff on call or police dispatch, depending on severity.
Minor Duties/Responsibilities - Warming House & Private Rentals- Conduct administrative duties during shift such as data entry, filing, research projects, etc. as assigned.
- Periodically perform landscaping maintenance duties and walk through the park to pick up trash and maintain a clean environment.
- If available, may assist with seasonal installation and removal of ice rinks as well as general ice rink maintenance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Previous experience in customer service, event coordination, and/or facility operations desired
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact courteously with the public, addressing questions and resolving minor issues.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in completing assigned tasks.
- Attention to detail, especially in maintaining cleanliness and safety within the facility.
- Ability to handle minor facility maintenance tasks, such as locking up, restocking supplies, and handling trash.
- Basic administrative skills, including the ability to assist with PRF department tasks, as needed.
- Ability to follow rules and enforce safety regulations in a polite and professional manner.
Requirements of Work
- Must be 17 years or older and possess a valid non-probationary Wisconsin driver's license.
- Must have a reliable means of transportation.
Other Job Functions
- Must be able to perform light physical tasks, including lifting and moving chairs and tables (up to 50 pounds).
- Regular walking through varying terrain in all seasons and perform snow removal, landscaping, and cleaning duties.
- Ability to stand and move for extended periods during shifts.
- Flexibility in scheduling, including the ability to work weekends and evenings
- Must be able to work in varying weather conditions, particularly during ice skating warming house shifts in the winter.
