Perform custodial and general maintenance services by keeping assigned areas clean, orderly, safe, and secure with established standards and adjusting individual assignments. Use various types of power-driven machines and cleaning materials. Perform general maintenance to include minor repairs and preventive maintenance. Perform a variety of tasks in weed and litter control at designated County facilities.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Care for established park grounds; perform a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following: mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing, digging, sprinkler repair, fence repair, maintain of existing landscapes, painting, planting, pruning, weeding, aerating, trash removal and general upkeep of lawns and grounds2. Assist in the groundwork of soil preparation, soil leveling, seeding, sod install and weed control.3. Load and unloads equipment and supplies, cleans, and cares for basic tools and equipment.4. Assist trades workers with and general facility maintenance.5. Deliver and assemble tents, outdoor bleachers, stands and tables for special events.6. Assist other park maintenance crews with thinning and chipping of trees, shrubs, flower beds and weeding.7. Learn and be able to demonstrate to work with and/or mix with pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and or insecticides and apply them through sprays under the direction of the qualifying party.8. Learn and be able to demonstrate the operation and perform daily maintenance of a variety of ground maintenance equipment, vehicles, trailers, power driven tools and equipment utilized in the performance of duties. 9. May be required to drive work trucks to and from work sites after successful completion of Bernalillo County's defensive driving course.10. Adherence to safe work practices and procedures in adherence with appropriate regulations and standards.11. Completion of weekly work sheets and preventive and corrective action work orders assigned by supervisor.12. Follow standard operating procedures for the department.13. Employee must successfully complete the post-offer employment medical examination and background investigation.2. Employee must comply with the safety guidelines of the County.3. Understand and fully execute both oral and written instructions in English and to perform work assignments with minimal supervision.4. If county employee, must not have been on a Sick Leave Corrective Action Plan for attendance issues within the last 12 months.5. If county employee, must not have a disciplinary action or written reprimand with in the last 12 months.6. Employee must complete required FEMA training(s) as assigned to position.WORKING CONDITIONS1. Work is performed outdoors, with exposure to natural weather conditions.2. Worker is exposed to occasional noise and vibration factors in the operation of equipment.3. Worker is exposed to dust, fumes, and mists.4. Work is performed on even and uneven terrain. Surfaces may be wet, dry, natural ground or paved. Work may be performed on inclines and occasionally on ladders.5. Work hazards include exposure to dust, chemicals such as herbicides, fertilizers, pesticides, exposure to severe weather conditions, heavy lifting, working on potentially slick surfaces and ladders and using power equipment.6. Works as part of a crew and under close supervision.7. Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule.EQUIPMENT, TOOLS AND MATERIALS1. Utilizes the following tools and equipment: sickle mower, push mower, sprayer, weed-eater, power blower, pruning shears, ladders and assorted hand tools utilized in grounds maintenance.2. Gloves, goggles, boots, dust masks, earplugs and occasionally respirators are utilized in performance of essential duties.3. Must have the ability to stand and/or walk up to four hours at one time, and up to eight hours total per day.2. Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally from ground to waist level. Ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds frequently from ground to shoulder level.3. Must have the ability to bend at waist and twist/rotate waist if necessary for up to one-half of workday.4. Must have the ability to crouch and kneel frequently.5. Must have the ability to work with arms extended and bent for up to four hours at one time, and seven and one-half hours total per day.6. Must have the ability to push/pull with arms with a force of up to 50 plus pounds.7. Must have the ability to climb ladders and work from ladders while trimming trees or shrubs.8. Must have the ability to coordinate use of hands and eyes in performance of essential duties.
