Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements Education directly related to the minimum requirements below may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.High school diploma or GED.Specialized training in park maintenance or landscaping preferred.Must successfully complete Park Management Training orientation within six (6) months and Park Maintenance Worker level I within one (1) year from date of hire.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.Preferred Knowledge Basic park maintenance practices including care of trees, plants and turfOccupational hazards and standard safety practicesBasic knowledge of turf equipmentBasic knowledge of pesticides and pesticides application equipment Preferred Skills & Abilities Perform basic park maintenance duties within assigned area of responsibilityOperate a variety of light equipment in a safe and effective mannerLearn turf maintenance techniques including seeding, sodding and repairPerform heavy manual labor for extended periods of timeCommunicate clearly and conciselyPerform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodationEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of workCity of Albuquerque Employee BenefitsThe City is committed to providing employees one of the most comprehensive and reasonably priced benefit packages available in New Mexico.
