Salt Mine Road, Camp Verde, AZ 86322Posting Details:Salary: $55,000 - $59,000 / per yearGrade: 19Closing Date: January 2, 2025Job Summary:Manages an 11-acre Fort Verde historic park with an annual visitation of 10,000 and Rockin' River Ranch, a 209-acre day-use recreation park that opened to the public in February 2024. Performs park administration/performance management, including instructing, training, developing, evaluating, and counseling subordinate staff and volunteers performing a variety of historic park and day-use recreation park tasks. As well as, problem solving and park decision making. Writes reports concerning incidents, revenue and visitation, park recaps, time reports, requisitions and other agency forms. Routinely inspects grounds, equipment, buildings and museum facilities for necessary repairs, security and safety problems or hazards. Provides and supervises preventative and general maintenance as needed, including landscaping, irrigation, electrical, carpentry, welding, painting and general janitorial duties. Performs the development, construction and maintenance of exhibits and interpretive programs pertaining to the park statement for management. Manages the park artifact collection including archiving, labeling, handling, data processing and curation. Accomplishes project management, resource acquisition opportunities, and community relations at Fort Verde State Historic Park and Rockin' River Ranch State Park. Enforces all park policies and procedures while conserving the natural resources of State Parks and ensuring public safety, monitoring and maintaining all park facilities, including all buildings, roadways, and other park areas. Collects and accounts for public fees, ensures proper training for all state employees and assumes overall responsibility for employees and state property, attends meetings when necessary, making purchases within procurement guidelines, answering public correspondence and making public presentations. Support the setup and operations of the parks gift shop programming which includes maintaining adequate inventory, ordering and setting up vendors, stocking, and maintaining the parks PLU/pricing system.Job Duties:- Administer the operations of Fort Verde State Historic Park and Rockin' River Ranch State Park. Manage and supervise state park employees and volunteers assigned to the parks. Responsible for coordinating special events. Monitors park construction projects through site visits, coordination with Parks Development staff and park staff. Ensures that Fort Verde State Historic Park and Rockin' River Ranch State Park adhere to federal/state/agency laws, statutes, policies and procedures. Responsible for all Park operating expenditures, purchases and donations. Also responsible for collecting Park Fees and Revenue and all related accounting tasks.- Communicates via telephone and in-writing to the Regional Manager and/or Chief of Operations about Fort Verde State Historic Park and Rockin' River Ranch State Park, advising on operational, personnel and budget issues. Communicates on a regular basis with Regional Manager and/or Chief of Operations regarding region operational, personnel and budget issues. Research and prepare reports on various aspects of Park operation, maintenance and visitor services. Investigates and responds to visitor comments in writing, in-person or via telephone. Responds to general correspondence. Responds to local media inquiries. Responds to employee issues.- Participates in a variety of agency/park operations committees, setting agency policy or making recommendations to Regional Manager. Participates and represents agency in a variety of capacities such as public meetings, training seminars, partnership meetings, etc. - Creates, monitors and coordinates employee schedules and review of leave requests. Evaluates employees through the performance evaluation process, goal development, and performance check-ins. Seeks training for employees to help further personal/professional growth and enhancement to further contribute to the AZ State Parks system.- Perform maintenance and janitorial tasks on buildings and grounds initiating preventative care. Supervise subordinate employees and volunteers in same tasks. Ensures a safe working environment. - Catalog photos, artifacts and archival materials, copy photos, do research and perform related visitor services. Researches, designs and collaborates with other state parks staff for historic museum exhibits. Creates and maintains exhibits in indoor and outdoor exhibit areas.Assist with the support and execution of the Parks gift shop program.- Responsible for handling interviews, recruitment, hiring and training new employees, and interacts with all park personnel according to ADOA and ASPT guidelines.- Other duties as assigned as related to the position.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):Knowledge of:Good working knowledge of park operational needs, quality standards, visitor safety and employee safety standards. Effectively communicate via cell phone and other electronic means.Selective Preference(s):An ideal candidate has experience in park management, managing staff, budget, general knowledge of park operations. Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation Management, History, Museum Curation or a related field and/or 3 years experience in a relevant field is preferred.
