South Carolina locals know the lake for its abundant population of large catfish. Santee State Park camping is offered on the lake, but for guests who prefer to spend the night indoors, rondette cabins, 10 of which sit on piers over the lake, are available and have been attracting families for years.Job Purpose and Duties:Under general supervision, assists with overall operation and maintenance of a State Park. Performs diversified duties as governed by general instruction, policies and standard operating procedures of the Department. Assumes the responsibilities of the Park Manager in the absence of higher level employees.1) Supervises and directs other full and part-time employees as directed by the Park Manager and the Assistant Park Manager.2) Assists with the administrative activities to include, but not limited to, receiving and documenting revenues, preparing reports and making payments in accordance with standard operating procedures.3) Manages specific operational activities to include supervising specific areas such as cabins, day use areas, camping, and other overnight accommodations or special use facilities.4) Assists with long and short term maintenance planning and provides required reports. Makes frequent inspections to assure safe and satisfactory conditions.5) Plans, directs and may conduct maintenance activities on grounds, facilities and equipment to ensure that they are maintained to the standards set forth by the Park Service.6) Practice and promote teamwork within the work unit/office, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.7) Performs continuous public relation activities for the park by the distribution of general park and park service information, educational and recreational activities as required.8) Employee will be required to live in designated park housing to provide for security, safety and emergency response.Minimum and Additional Requirements Associate Degree in Park Management or related field with two (2) years experience as a Park Ranger or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledgeable of park operations, to include maintenance and administrative functions. Ability to work independently and direct subordinates as required.Additional Requirements:1) Position requires medium to heavy lifting, bending, walking and standing on uneven terrain, crawling and working at heights. Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents and other materials used in maintaining park facilities and grounds. Works with office equipment such as computers, calculators, etc.2) Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.3) Must posses a valid South Carolina Driver's License.
