SCHEDULE
Varied Days and Hours
Must be available to work days, nights, weekends and holidays
GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
Performs intermediate park patron service work involving public relations and safe use and enjoyment of District and City parks; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.
Essential Functions
+ Patrols parks and recreation areas; enforces applicable ordinances.
+ Sees that park and recreation areas and facilities are secured.
+ Handles the transmission of daily receipts to in-house and bank facilities.
+ Issues parking citations; has vehicles towed within the confines of the City parks.
+ Assist in the recovery of lost children and property.
+ Monitors security of parked cars and places crime prevention warnings on them.
+ Informs and directs park visitors.
+ Renders CPR and first aid assistance when necessary.
+ Corrects and/or reports any condition that involves damage, theft, vandalism or hazard.
RELATED TASKS:
+ May be assigned limited supervisory duties during a shift;
+ Performs related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of:
+ the city laws and local ordinances governing park and recreational areas.
Ability to
+ enforce rules and ordinances in a firm and courteous manner.
+ follow oral and written directions.
+ prepare detailed reports.
+ establish and maintain effective relationships with park visitors and guests.
+ communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
+ Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
CERTIFICATIONS / PROFESSIONAL LICENSES:
+ Possession of CPR, First Aid, and Parking Enforcement Certificates within six (6) months of appointment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
+ Possession of a valid State of Florida Class E driver's license with no more than six (6) points in the last three (3) years.
+ May be required to patrol the parks on a bicycle and pass a bicycle operations course.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to lift, carry and push articles weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to wear hard hat/helmet, safety harness, CPR mask, rubber gloves, and safety vest. Exposure to extreme temperatures, moving mechanical parts, animals/insects, and blood borne pathogens.

CITY OF BOCA RATON - BENEFITS SUMMARY
Part-Time Employees
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: To be eligible to receive Paid Leave and to contribute to the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, a part-time employee must have worked at least 1,040 hours in the prior fiscal year
PAID LEAVE: Employees who work a minimum of 1,040 hours per fiscal year will receive twelve (12) hours of Paid Leave on October 1st. This Paid Leave shall be used no later than September 30th of that fiscal year or it will be forfeited. These hours may not accumulate and may only be granted with the approval of the employee's supervisor. This paid leave has no cash value at separation of employment.
MISSION SQUARE 457 DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN: Employees who work a minimum of 1,040 hours per fiscal year will be allowed to participate in the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan. The City will not provide any matching funds.
