Lovers Key State Park is seeking a Park Services Specialist for an exciting opportunity to work with a unique and challenging park. This 1,442-acre park features a variety of habitats: 2.5 miles of beach, coastal strand, maritime hammock, estuary and mangroves. Lovers Key State Park consists of several picnic areas, kayak Launch, boat ramp, Bayside Park, 5 miles of hiking trails, 5 miles of paddling trails and 2.5 miles of beach. A 3,900 square foot Welcome and Discovery Center is open.
This is a specialized professional position working in volunteer management, visitor services, community outreach development, special event organization as well as interpretive program development and implementation. The person filling this position will require a high level of leadership and interpersonal skills as well as strong public relations skills to succeed in the position.

Lovers Key State Park consists of four barrier islands and adjacent aquatic areas covering approximately 1500 acres. With two and a half miles of beach front along the Gulf of Mexico, several miles of hiking and biking trails, outstanding kayaking and canoeing areas and an abundance of wildlife watching opportunities, Lovers Key State Park ranks among the most popular of all the Florida State Parks. The park is located on County road 865 between Fort Myers Beach and Bonita Beach in Lee county.

Your Specific Responsibilities:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Compliance with the processing requirements of Chapter 215.422, F.S. is mandatory. Persistent failure to comply with this section by any agency of the state shall constitute good cause for discharge of employees duly found responsible, or predominantly responsible, for failure to comply.
Acts as a liaison between volunteers and park administration. Designs and organizes volunteer recruitment and service programs. Develops and maintains volunteer job descriptions, procedural manuals, personnel records and evaluations. Plans and oversees all volunteer schedules, tracks volunteer hours, prepares appropriate reports and coordinates awards programs. Initiates correspondence, pamphlets and letters to organizations concerning volunteer activities. Monitors and defines suitable park volunteer needs and assists the Park Manager in volunteer placement. Plans and conducts volunteer meetings, workshops, volunteer orientation and training sessions.
Plans, organizes and conducts community outreach activities, special events and festivals to expand public understanding of the Florida Park Service and the park's management objectives. Represents the parks and the Florida Park Service to outside agencies and organizations, disseminating information and promoting all opportunities provided by the park. Assists Park Manager in the preparation of programs for presentations and in the researching of local current events to provide the agency with knowledge of potential concerns and opportunities.
Provides research, development and library of funding sources for the parks via corporate/foundation and public support entities. Exercise professional grantsmanship and prepares and submits grant applications/proposals and monitors consistency between park goals and grant specifications.
Ensures that all required reports and document are submitted in compliance with established schedules. Monitors, evaluates and provides program analysis to the Park Manager on Citizen Support Organization operations and performance impact. Provides guidance to Citizen Support Organization regarding fundraising and grant opportunities and the recruitment of additional members.
Assists park management with planning and executing the protection, monitoring and reporting of listed species within park to include but is not limited to nesting/resting shorebirds and sea turtles. Attends agency required trainings for listed species management and prescribed burning. Aids in prescribed burning, exotic plant and animal removal and other natural and cultural resource management techniques.
Provides coordination of staff, customer service and supports administrative duties on weekends as designated by Park Manager.
