SUMMARY
Under indirect supervision, this position is responsible for performing skilled and semi-skilled labor for the Parks and Recreation grounds and facilities. Duties include general landscaping, irrigation repair/install, tree maintenance, as well as maintenance to park facilities including minor plumbing.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
* Performs maintenance and repairs to park grounds and facilities.
* Operates heavy equipment.
* Operates tractors to renovate, level, top dress and mow.
* Plants, prunes and fertilizes trees and shrubs.
* Repairs and installs irrigation systems.
* Assists Foreperson with training new employees.
* Performs routine snow and ice removal.
* Empties trash weekly.
* Maintains detailed cost, tasks and spray records.
* Operates pay loader and backhoe.
* Performs minor welding repairs.
* Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Any combination of training and experience with at least completion of the eighth (8th) grade. Valid Texas Class C Driver's License required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
* Ability to operate and repair small/light equipment, such as power tools.
* Ability to operate and repair medium equipment and machinery, such as vehicles or commercial mowers.
* Strong verbal and written communication skill.
* Ability to work in undesirable conditions and inclement weather.
