Description Upper Darby Township is seeking to hire 3 part-time Parking Enforcement Officers/Ticket Writers in the Parking Enforcement Department to work under the general supervision of the Lieutenant. The Parking Enforcement Officers/Ticket Writers will patrol assigned areas by Township vehicle or on foot to ensure safety and public compliance with existing parking ordinances. Duties and responsibilities include:Identifying vehicles in violation of parking ordinances, checking with the Parking Enforcement Department when necessary to confirm identities or to determining whether vehicles need to be booted or towedIssuing violations for illegally parked vehiclesPerforming simple vehicle maintenance procedures limited to checking oil and gas, and reporting possible mechanical problems to the LieutenantDocumenting and retrieve information pertaining to vehicle registration, identification, and statusProviding information to the public regarding parking regulations and facilities, and the location of streets, buildings and points of interest. Informing the public about policies, services, or procedures related to Parking Enforcement DepartmentAppearing in court at hearings regarding contested parking violationsMaintaining a professional and courteous demeanor with the public at all timesUnderstanding and complying with safety, personnel, and other policies and proceduresRegular and reliable attendancePosition Requirements Qualified candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent; a valid Driver's License; have excellent written and verbal communication skills; attention to detail and accuracy, and strong organizational skills. Must successfully pass a background check and pre-employment screening.
