We value diversity and welcome candidates of all backgrounds to apply.Department:Salary Grade: MISC 2Reports To:FLSA Status: Non-ExemptAppointed By: Town ManagerDate: August 2024GENERAL SUMMARY:As a Parking Lot Attendant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth traffic flow and safety within the Beede Center parking lot, particularly during peak times when students arrive at school M-F (7:15am-8:15am). Your primary responsibility will be to manage traffic and assist students with assigned parking, while also enforcing parking rules and regulations for non-permit holding students.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:External and internal applicants, as well as position incumbents who are or become disabled as defined under the Americans With Disabilities Act, must be able to perform the essential job functions (as listed) either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined by management on a case-by-case basis.Traffic Management: Direct vehicles entering and exiting the parking lot to maintain orderly traffic flow. Manage congestion during peak arrival time.Assist with Parking: Guide students to assigned parking spots ensuring safety. Redirect students without permit parking out or away from Beede Center lot.Enforce Parking Regulations: Monitor parking lot for compliance with designated parking spots for students, Beede members, and guests.Provide Assistance: Offer assistance to students and members with parking-related inquiries or issues. Provide directions or information about parking procedures when needed.Maintain Order: Respond calmly and professionally to any conflicts or disputes that arise in the parking lot. Work to de-escalate situations and ensure a safe environment for all.Report Incidents: Report any accidents, damage to property, or safety concerns to General Manager and/or Facilities Coordinator promptly.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with students, members, and guests in a courteous and professional manner.Patience and Calm Under Pressure: Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations, such as heavy traffic or conflicts between students and members.Reliability: Punctuality and dependability are essential for this role, as volunteers will be needed during specific hours (Monday through Friday during the school year 7:15am-8:15am).Attention to Detail: Ability to observe parking lot activity closely and identify any potential safety hazards or violations.Conflict Resolution Skills: Ability to resolve conflicts and disagreements diplomatically and effectively.Physical Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and work outdoors in various weather conditions.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be 18 years of age or older.Must agree to and pass a CORI and SORI Background Check, the cost of which will be borne by the Town.WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:External and internal applicants, as well as position incumbents who are or become disabled as defined under the Americans With Disabilities Act, must be able to perform the physical demands (as listed) either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined by management on a case-by-case basis.Employee is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
