About Us:

Raleigh Parking is one of seven divisions within the City of Raleigh's Transportation Department. We efficiently manage the City's parking operations and assets while providing on-street and off-street parking services for residents, businesses, and visitors. We aim for accountability, transparency and superior customer service while striving to improve parking opportunities to meet the needs of the City's continued growth and development. It is our mission to serve our residential and business communities by providing quality customer service along with an efficient turnover rate of on-street parking through diligent enforcement of authorized regulations, with integrity and empathy.

Job Summary:

This full-time position is the first level in a two-level Parking Services meters section devoted to providing customer service and pay station upkeep. This position will provide daily preventative maintenance and repair of all on-street multi-space pay stations (meters) deployed in the downtown area. Work may include responding to customer concerns, running reports, regular cleaning of meter cabinets, graffiti removal, pay station removals and reinstallations, and maintain records for repair history. Incumbents will be responsible for weekly coin collection.

* Provides daily monitoring, testing, preventative maintenance, and repair of all on-street pay stations

* Removes pay stations during long construction; reinstalls when projects are complete

* Provides regular cleaning of the cabinets; removes graffiti immediately when discovered Responds to electronically generated trouble alerts in a timely manner

* Provides guidance/instruction to customers in the proper procedures for operating the pay stations

* Prepares and maintains records for inventory items, repair history, communication failures, etc. as required

* Responds immediately to customer reports of machine malfunctions

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED and three months of relevant experience

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

Licensing and Certifications:

* Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's license with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire

Knowledge of:

* Basic filing and record-keeping principles

* Applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, regulations

* Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications

* Following directions and meeting expectations

* Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills to interact with coworkers, supervisors, the public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction

ADA and Other Requirements:

Positions in this class typically require: balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Very Heavy Work:

Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with moderate exposure to atmospheric conditions (such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, etc.); moderate exposure to hazardous materials (such as chemicals, blood and other body fluids); frequent exposure to environmental conditions (such as disruptive people, imminent danger, or a threatening environment); and frequent exposure to extreme temperatures and travel.
