Education and Experience: A High School diploma or GED, or higher, and two (2) years of experience in the maintenance of electro-mechanical devices.
Licenses and Certificates: Texas Class C Driver's License or equivalent from another state.
General Purpose
Under general supervision, performs general tasks related to the installation, programming, maintenance, monetary collection and repair of parking meters.
Typical Duties
* Install, maintain, repair, and replace of electronic and mechanical parking meters components and end items.
* Collect coins from meters.
* Secures and transports meter revenue and completes required paperwork and collection audits
* Creates general service calls, completes work orders and assists related departments with general permits and citizens, as needed.
* Audit meters with audit cards, collect revenue from parking meters and prepare for daily bank deposits
* Troubleshoots general parking meter malfunctions and failures, and replaces defective components.
* Perform general preventative maintenance on a regular and scheduled basis, repair of meters and housings, test and calibrate timing mechanisms, change batteries, clean credit card readers, disassemble, inspect and replace damaged parts, lubricate locks and moving parts.
* Diagnose and correct defects in all parking meters, including those with evolving technology, to minimize lost revenue production.
* Utilizes various software applications for repair, maintenance, and monitoring of parking meter service. Creates, documents, and closes general service calls and work orders using software applications.
* Maintain numbering system on meter poles and maintain accurate maintenance records.
* Maintain cleanliness of shop, tools, work areas and assigned vehicle, and observe standard operating procedures and safety practices.
* Assists customers in performing parking meter transactions and understanding parking regulations.
* Coordinate with supervisor for reported meter malfunctions.
* Provides general updates and inputs for tracking all changes on maps and inventory spreadsheets.
* Assists with general installation and relocation as well as bagging of meters.
* Assists with special projects involving collecting, plotting, auditing and documenting data related to City parking issues.
* Perform duties of coworkers as necessary to ensure continuity of operations during absences.
