REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCESThe Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the Parks Aide position at Easterlin Park.This Job Announcement will remain open until Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at 5PM (EST). General Description Performs a variety of park maintenance and program implementation activities at assigned facilities. Assists skilled trades staff based on area of assignment. Works under close to general supervision according to set procedures, but determines how or when to complete tasks Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Requires six (6) months in general grounds and facility maintenance, customer service, recreational activities, and/or a point of sale system based on area of assignment or closely related experience. Special Certifications and Licenses Required Possess and maintain a valid Florida Class E Driver's License based on area of assignment. Preferences Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Additional Information: All candidates must complete an extensive ten (10) year work history verification and criminal background check which includes post-offer physical examination, clearing of DCF's Affidavit of Good Moral Character (). Ability to maintain authorization to operate a county vehicle/equipment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary. Interacts with the public and other County employees in order to give directions or information, explains work activities/procedures, identifies service needs, and/or resolves day-to-day operational issues; collects fees and operates a cash register or point of sale software based on area of assignment. Maintains a variety of landscape and construction related equipment in order to ensure that the equipment operates safely and appropriately when needed, extend the useful life of the equipment, minimize down time, and minimize major repair/replacement costs. Inspects park facilities, including play areas, buildings, parking areas, in order to ensure a safe work and recreation environment for employees and the public; performs a variety of facility maintenance work in order to ensure a clean, safe, sanitary environment for the public and County employees. Sets up and takes down temporary facilities, traffic control devices for meetings, special activities, and events in order to provide a safe, comfortable location with efficient traffic flow for special events/activities. Prepares a variety of log sheets in order to document work activities, track equipment usage, and provide summary information to management. Picks up and delivers a variety of items to appropriate locations in order to ensure supplies and materials are available where and when needed and/or delivers mail. Performs related work as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENTPhysical Demands Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Performs light to medium work that involves walking or standing virtually all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or considerable skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances or limits of accuracy. Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment) Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
