Salary: $17.85 Hourly Location : Grove City, OH Job Type: Part-time II Job Number: 24-5965 Department: Parks and Recreation Opening Date: 07/23/2024 Closing Date: 12/31/2024 11:59 PM Eastern General Description and QualificationsPART-TIME POSITION, MAXIMUM 28 HOURS PER WEEKGENERAL DESCRIPTION: Appointed by the Mayor in consultation with the Administrative Assistant, the PARK Leader under the immediate supervision of the Recreation Supervisor is responsible for the development, organization, and execution of a well balanced, diversified program of activities during PARK (Programmed Afterschool Recreation for Kids). QUALIFICATIONS: The PARK Leader shall be chosen solely on the basis of their qualifications, and as shown by the adequacy of their successful experience Has proven ability in oral and written communications. Has the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public officials, civic leaders and the public in general. Sufficient knowledge to carry out a full range of varied responsibilities and discharge the accountability required of the PARK Leader. Completion of secondary education (high school or GED); must be 18 years of age and qualify for and remain insurable under the City's vehicle insurance policy Has the ability to follow direction, provide necessary services and enforced stated rules and regulations. Experience with school age children preferred; College credits in Early Childhood Education/Child Development, Education, Recreation, or other related field preferred. The ability to plan and provide appropriate school age activities and have a basic understanding of child development and group management. LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Current adult, child and infant CPR and first aid certifications preferred. Essential Functions of the PositionESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION: Obeys and promptly executes all orders of the Administrative Assistant. The PARK Leader shall have the following powers and duties under the appropriate immediate supervisor: 1) Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance 2) Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions 3) Plans daily games and activities for children 4) Supports and implements a daily program consistent with the PARK goals and philosophy. 5) Assists with the preparation of monthly calendar of events, newsletters, and requests for supplies. 6) Maintains inventory of supplies and Grove City Parks and Recreation Department equipment (first aid box, games, balls, etc.). 7) Assists the PARK Site Manager in completing site manager report form, injury reports, attendance rosters, and all other necessary paperwork to turn in on a weekly basis to the Recreation Supervisor. 8) Maintains positive communication with supervisors, PARK staff, school personnel, parents, and children. 9) Attends all staff meetings and in-service training. 10) Supervises all activities and children to ensure safety of all participants. 11) All other duties as assigned by the PARK Site Manager and Recreation Supervisor and follows all policies outlined in the PARK Leader handbook. 12) Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor. 13) Follows all rules, regulations and ethical conduct as set forth by the Grove City Parks and Recreation Department and the City of Grove City.
