JOB DESCRIPTIONPARKS AND RECREATION GROUNDS CREW MEMBERDESCRIPTIONUnder the general supervision of the Parks Manager, grounds crew members will perform routine work in the maintenance of the City's parks, trails, and recreation facilities. Maintenance duties include mowing, landscaping, irrigation, sports fields maintenance, and general maintenance. Grounds crew members will also set up, support, and tear down amenities associated with city special events and recreational programs when needed. Working occasional evenings, holidays, and weekends to support events and programs will occasionally be required.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe duties listed below are intended only as general illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. - Maintains parks, trails, and landscape maintenance by mowing, edging, and fertilizing, and pruning trees and shrubs
- Repairs athletic fields and sports courts; reconditions, preps, and maintains sports fields specifications
- Performs routine irrigation maintenance, inspection, and repair
- Performs general cleanup of grounds and facilities, including restrooms, athletic facilities, and parking lots
- Inspects, cleans, and repairs tools and equipment related to assignment, including playground equipment, picnic tables, benches, bleachers, and other related recreation equipment
- Provides support for all city special events, recreation leagues, tournaments, and park rentals
- Works evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Cultivate inclusive and respectful working relationships that support a sense of belonging for all employees and community members

- Maintains regular attendance and punctuality

QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, grounds crew members must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Crew members may be subjected to extreme temperatures, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dust, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, inadequate lighting, work space restrictions, intense noises, and travel.Due to the safety sensitive nature of this position, candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening prior to start date.
