DEFINITION: The purpose of this job/class within the organization is to provide semi-skilled to skilled work in a variety of fields in the maintenance and upkeep of the public parks, grounds, buildings, athletic fields and related facilities and equipment. This job/class works under close supervision according to set procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Not all inclusive): Conducts general mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repairs and painting on equipment, buildings and grounds operated by the Parks and Recreation Department. Orders parts and services from vendors in compliance with purchasing guidelines. Sets up park functions requiring moving bleachers, tables, and chairs. Prepares reports and records for the Maintenance Division. Maintains nature trails; removes trash and debris. Perform routine grounds maintenance activities such as mowing and edging lawns, planting and trimming hedges. Layout, plant, trim, weed, fertilize and apply mulch to flower and landscape beds. Clean sidewalks, awnings, City buildings and recreation facilities as needed. Maintains, constructs, and repairs playground equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent. Requires two years in construction maintenance and repair or closely related experience.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Requires a Class B commercial driver's license, a CPR and First Aid certification within 6 months of hire. Position is subject to being on call and working after normal City work hours as well as on weekends and holidays.
