Essential Duties
- Operates mowers, pickup trucks, small tractors and hand tools, and all-terrain vehicles.
- Mows lawns; trims and edges around walks, flower beds and other installations; operates mowers and weed eaters.
- Plants and prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches or twigs.
- Installs and repairs lawn and area sprinklers and irrigation systems; installs backflow control devices; readies systems for winter.
- Paints signs, rest rooms, and similar installations.
- Sprays lawns, shrubs and trees with fertilizer, herbicides and insecticides.
- Cleans grounds and removes litter; rakes and disposes of debris.
- Plows and shovels snow from walks and driveways.
- Plants and fertilizes grass, flowers, trees and shrubs; waters lawn and shrubs; regulates water.
- Repairs fences, gates, walls and walks; maintains river trails and bridges.
- Cleans out drainage ditches and culverts.
- Installs and repairs picnic tables and playground and similar equipment.
- Makes minor repairs on equipment such as mowers and snow removal equipment.
- May perform grounds maintenance services at the Town cemetery and other sites.
- Assists at special events including some holidays; assists in set-up at Community Center and Parks for special events.
- Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent; six (6) months of experience in the maintenance, upkeep, and beautification of turf, parks, facilities and related environ, or related duties.
