The City of Friendswood is currently accepting applications for a Parks Maintenance Worker, in the Parks and Recreation Department. The base salary for this position is $36,920.00 to $46,020.00 annually, DOQ. WORK PERFORMED: •Assists in the construction and maintenance of park facilities and City buildings. •Performs routine grounds maintenance, including watering, fertilizing, cutting grass, trimming trees and hedges, planting plants, filling in holes, and picking up litter and other debris. •Drives truck, tractor mower, and other vehicles to perform maintenance duties. •Operates weed eaters, edgers, power saws, and other equipment. •Services and cleans vehicles and equipment. •Performs routine facility maintenance, including, plumbing repairs, carpentry, painting and minor electrical work. •Digs and fills holes and ditches. •Assists with setting up the annual Fourth of July, Santa in the Park, Holiday Hustle Fun Run and other departmental sponsored events. •Operates the mosquito spraying truck to fumigate the City. •Performs other duties within the areas of responsibility and ability, as assigned. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: A minimum of two years' experience; High school diploma or G.E.D. Basic knowledge of the use, care, and maintenance of hand tools, testing instruments, and small power tools; Basic knowledge of the operation of a tractor, generator, and mosquito sprayer; Basic knowledge of plumbing, painting, carpentry and electrical work. Basic HVAC knowledge is desirable A valid Texas driver's license is required, with a good driving record. This position will remain open until filled.
