Current recruitment is for the Mainland Landscaping Division Team.
Under administrative supervision, the Parks Service Supervisor oversees, supervises, leads, directs, and ensures the quality of the service, repair, and maintenance for the City's Parks, playgrounds, and other public amenities. Supervises the care and keeping of the Clearwater beach and other natural areas.
Essential Functions: -- Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Oversees the work and operations of all Park Service Technicians, Arborists, and Tree Trimmers; prioritizes job importance, communicates pertinent information to job crews, facilitates proper equipment usage, and coordinating job crews in the event of an emergent scheduling change.
* Inspects, evaluates, and reviews sites for necessary maintenance or repair work that needs to be done; safely secures items and prepares necessary reports for repairs; ensures risk management has accurate documentation of repairs requiring expense.
* Plans, implements, and supervises the installation of equipment and the construction and/or renovation of grounds and facilities.
* Performs extensive administrative duties for the department; conducts and schedules meetings and events for parks maintenance, communicates special maintenance requests, and addresses safety concerns.
* Delegates, assigns, and supervises crews in the field performing tasks on specific job sites; provides direction, guidance, and training; manages payroll and time cards for all personnel and evaluates for accuracy; provides performance review and feedback.
* Leads, directs, oversees, and supervises the various contracts providing landscape, fountain, tree, and pressure washing services for the City; monitors the bid process, procures necessary goods and materials, tracks all billing, BPOs and invoices, and maintains constant communication with all contractors to ensure quality and timely performance of tasks; orders inventories and keeps control of supplies.
* Supervise, monitors, and oversees the general maintenance in relation to grounds, facility, and park amenities; ensures the appropriate levels of servicing, cleaning, and general appearance of the public restrooms within the parks department and facilities.
* Applies for building permits and secures approvals; estimates time and materials required; performs primary layout and design work for proposed jobs and projects.
* Advises and directs employees regarding programs, policies, and procedures related to training issues and concerns; coordinates with other departments on various means of training.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment:
A valid State driver's license is required.
This position is required to operate the below equipment, machines, tools, and other work aides:
Computer with Microsoft Office programs; pickup truck; forklift; & utility trailers, dump trucks, track loaders, bucket trucks, claw trucks, and any other equipment as assigned.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma, High School Equivalency Diploma, G.E.D. Certificate PLUS four (4) years experience as a laborer in the care and maintenance of parks or other similar grounds to include two (2) years of experience as a crew leader, lead worker, or other semi-supervisory capacity; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
