ABOUT THE JOB:The residential Youth Mentor is dedicated to the direct supervision of adolescent boys in a short-term transitional living program. Youth Mentors cultivate a safe, healthy, therapeutic, nurturing and caring home environment that is supportive of each participant's individualized needs, social, emotional, and academic development. Youth Mentors are positive role models offering support, strength-based encouragement and protection of youth in their care, advocating for youth and sharing information and updates with parents/guardians.
WORK SCHEDULE AND RATE OF PAY:- 6 days per week, 4-hour shift
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday 9:00am-1:00pm
- Wednesdays off
- You can also accept per diem hours as they become available
- Overtime/ time and a half eligible
- Rate of pay is $19.23 per hour
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:- High school diploma/ GED and experience working with at-risk or court-involved youth - Required
- Must have valid driver's license - Required
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
JOB DESCRIPTION CONTINUED:- Ensure physical safety of youth and provide Crisis Intervention
- Routine counts to make sure clients are present and safe
- Routine bed checks to ensure youth are present in their beds
- Maintain a professional relationship with youth maintaining proper physical boundaries
- Plan and lead organized daily activities and facilitate groups
- Conduct therapeutic programing including Restorative Justice Practices and DBT-Lite
- Interpret program to youth and family
- Complete all written reports as assigned
- Be aware and assure safety of youth with special needs physical or emotional
- Provide transportation to clients and families as needed
- Maintain Administration of Medication Certification
- Reinforce and role model youth's individual needs plan
- Attend regular and consistent attendance
