TITLE: Part Time (.25) Title III English Language Development (ELD) Tutor TYPE OF POSITION: Part-time (.25, 10 hours/week); 2024-2025 school year (anticipated immediate start); wage: $30/hour subject to the terms and limitations of the grant funding the position LOCATION: District, Hopkinton, Massachusetts AREA OF CONSIDERATION: All qualified current HPS educators The Title III English Language Development (ELD) Tutor works under the direction of the district ELE coordinator and the building principal to provide tutoring in English acquisition skills for students. The tutor supports each students language development, with a focus on vocabulary use, reading, writing, and speaking. The ELD Tutor motivates students to apply their growing language skills in each school subject area and in their social interactions. The Title III ELD Tutor reports to the principal(s) and the Director of English Language Acquision, Equity, and Access. DUTIES: Duties include, but are not limited to: Provides ELD tutoring and/or curriculum support throughout the school day per the schedule designed by the principal(s) and Director of English Language Acquisition, Equity, & Access; Continuously monitors students understanding of the tutoring content and adjusts instruction, guided by the Director of English Language Acquisition, Equity, & Access; Utilizes appropriate technology to assist students in the learning process; Creates reports of progress for each student; Serves as a communication liaison between classroom teachers and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) personnel and Director of English Language Acquisition, Equity, & Access; Other duties, as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered qualified for the position of Title III English Language Development (ELD) Tutor, candidates must have/be: Bachelor's Degree, Masters preferred, from an accredited college or university; Experience working with school-aged cohort considered a plus; Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, to children and adults; Commitment to remain current in content knowledge and teaching strategies; Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and in conformity with state certification requirements.
