Job Description:
Raritan Valley Community College is seeking a part-time Afternoon Library Clerk to work in the Evelyn S. Field Library.
Under the direction of the Public Services Coordinator and the overall supervision of the Library Director, the part-time Afternoon Library Clerk is responsible for daily operations at the library public services desk and for providing optimal customer services to all library patrons.
Essential Duties:
Responsible for the functioning of the circulation department during the assigned hours.
Checks materials in and out and conducts other circulation functions, such as registering patrons utilizing OCLC's WorldShare Management System (WMS).
Assists patrons on services, policies, and procedures of the library.
Responsible for stack maintenance, ensuring that stacks are in order, and that patron areas are tidy and stocked with supplies.
Answer patron questions in person or on the phone, regarding library resources, services, and campus information, and/or refers same to librarian on duty.
Assists patrons in use of library technology including printers, scanner, and computers.
Sorts and shelves library materials according to Library of Congress classification.
Assists with processing and fulfillment of interlibrary loan requests, as necessary.
Follows and implements established policies and procedures of the College and the Library.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree or appropriate college credits is highly desirable.
Commitment to public service is critical.
Basic computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Library experience, including with library systems such as OCLC WMS, is preferred but not required.
Additional Information:
Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 12:00PM - 5:00PM. Hours may vary during times when classes are not in session.
Physical Requirements: Frequent reaching, bending and kneeling. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
