Summary/Objective:

The Communications and Social Media Coordinator position at Antiracist Research & Policy Center (ARPC) is part-time role, paid $25-30 an hour for up to 10 hours a week. The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for working with center leadership to create and execute a strategy for sharing our work with local, national, and campus audiences across social media platforms, in accordance with center OKRs. Job duties include collaborating with center leadership create a social media strategy, workplan, and schedule; developing and working with the social media assistant to create aesthetically cohesive and powerful social media content; and ensuring that all posts go out on time.

The ideal candidate has strong visual and written communications skills, including basic design capabilities in canva and similar platforms. Knowledge of social justice, antiracism, and social science/the humanities is a must. Experience in the fields of reproductive justice; prison abolition; educational equity; and/or environmental justice is a plus. The communications and marketing specialist should be highly organized, self-directed, and accountable with strong interpersonal communication skills and enthusiasm for collaborative work.

This position is part-time, with an average of 8 hours expected per week. It will begin November 2024 and go through the end of May.

Essential Functions:

* Working in consultation with the Executive Director (ED) and ADOO (Associate Director of Operations and Outreach) to create a communications strategy and plan.

* Regularly updating and sharing the communications calendar and workplan.

* Working in collaboration with the student assistant to create, finalize, and post content.

* Reviewing social media content and accounts for compliance with university communications policies.

* Other tasks as requested.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Salary Range:

* $25 - $30/hour, to commensurate with experience.

Required Education and Experience:

* Bachelor's degree

* 1-3 years of relevant experience

Preferred Education and Experience:

* Master's degree or equivalent.

* 2-4 years of relevant experience.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

* Excellent written communication skills.

* Basic design experience and familiarity with creating or working with consultants to create branding guidelines and coherent aesthetic.

* Familiarity with and interest in current issues in social justice, racial inequality, and intersectional antiracist work.

* Experience working with a collaborative team that requires buy-in and approval from multiple stakeholders.

* This is a temporary externally funded position.

* This position is contingent upon the availability of funds.
