Salary: $33.13 HourlyLocation : Aubrey, TXJob Type: Part-TimeJob Number: 202400020Department: Police DepartmentOpening Date: 09/24/2024Description GENERAL SUMMARY: Under general supervision, the Bailiff supports the scheduled twice a month municipal court proceedings by directing and maintaining order in the court in accordance with the rules & regulations as prescribed by the City of Aubrey and the Town of Providence Village. The Bailiff will attend the City Aubrey Municipal scheduled court dates which are the first (1st) and third (3rd) Thursday of the month from 5:00 p.m. to until court proceedings adjourn for the day and will attend the Town of Providence Village scheduled court dates which are the first (1st) and third (3rd) Wednesdays of the month from 5:00 p.m. to until the court proceedings adjourn for the day. Examples of Duties
  • Attends court sessions and maintains security for all participants by preparing courtroom for hearings, trials and procedures; understands the security plan adopted by the court and implements as necessary; attends to court participants; escorts judges to and from the building providing protection
  • Maintains security plans, safety evacuation plans and functions and disaster emergency preparedness by continuing to develop the safety plans; provides role play training; conducts periodical test drills
  • Maintains order of the courtroom and court lobby
  • Executes lawful orders issued by the municipal court judge
  • Ensures the personal safety of the judges, staff and all persons in the courtroom and surrounding areas
  • Screens and searches as necessary all the people entering the courtroom to prevent the carrying of weapons and/or contraband items into the building
  • Reacts to emergencies and utilizes independent judgement in dealing with sensitive situations
  • Adheres to assigned work schedule as outline in the department and city attendance policies and procedures; ensures all behaviors comply with the city personnel rules and regulations
  • Adheres and comprehends to state and municipal codes, court policies, legal documents, and arrest procedures
  • Attends meetings & training sessions, as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
    • High School diploma or GED
    • Preferred two (2) years of experience with a law enforcement agency as a police officer, bailiff or in criminal investigations.
    LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS
    • Valid Texas Class C driver's license is required with a good driving record
    • Basic Peace Officer TCOLE Certificate
    • Must have or be able to obtain CPR, First Aid & AED Certification
    Supplemental Information WORKING CONDITIONS:
    • Ability to lift up to 10-40 pounds on a regular basis
    • Visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate tools and equipment associated with the job
    • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check, and MVR check
