JOB OVERVIEW: The purpose of this position is to assist with various areas of the Parks Department to include park programs and special events. Coordinates & assists with interpretive recreation programs and special events as needed. Positions are scheduled as needed throughout the year and may vary in hours and length of service. These positions will work at Lindenwood Park in Defiance, Missouri and the Heritage Museum in St. Peters, Missouri. Hours will predominantly be worked at Lindenwood Park with roughly 20% of hours spent at the Heritage Museum.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Provides information and on-site support with emphasis on strong communication and customer service skills.
* Conducts tours of the Daniel Boone Home for site visitors.
* Ability to promote programs offered by the Department of Parks & Recreation and interact with the public including all age groups.
* Working conditions outdoors may require withstanding varying weather conditions and must be able to perform light duty physical tasks.
* School Programs are generally conducted in the months of March - May and September through November.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Graduation from a general or technical high school or equivalent required with at least 1 year of prior general experience preferred.
* A valid Driver's license and satisfactory driving record required.
* Requires moderate physical exertion in performing job functions.
* Must be able to follow instructions and be reliable.
* Ability to effectively communicate with staff and the general public.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
* Hours can include working nights and weekends.
* This is a part-time position with an ongoing length of service, working an average of 24 hours per week, seasonally. Weekends and occasional evenings needed for availability
